The latest in our series of Interviews introduces our marketing and communications consultant, Anna Scott.
Where did you grow up?
I’m a Sunderland lass, and grew up in South Hylton (or, ‘The Village’ as us Hyltonians like to call it). I moved to Sheffield for a few years to study but always knew I’d come back to the north east eventually. I missed the coast too much.
What is your role at dodio?
I’m a marketing and communications consultant with dodio, so my role is quite varied. I’m lucky enough to work across the whole life cycle of our client work, helping to identify USPs and develop a marketing strategy, developing key messaging and a suitable narrative for our clients, and delivering engaging content to pique the interest of target audiences across a range of platforms and media.
What is your favourite food?
Tough question. I consider myself a bit of a foodie and love cooking. I think food and travel go hand in hand so there’s nothing better than a fresh oyster looking out across the Atlantic on the Isle of Skye, stuffed vine leaves in a sun-dappled taverna on the Greek island of Santorini or a currywurst on the streets of Berlin.
I’m also a huge fan of sushi so a trip to Japan is next on the travel bucket list.
What is your party trick?
I’m not sure I have one. But I don’t get to that many parties these days so it’s probably just as well, it would just go to waste.
How did you come to work at dodio?
I set up my own marketing consultancy after the birth of my son as I was looking for a more flexible way of working that gave me more time with him yet didn’t bring my career to a grinding halt. I met Chris (dodio’s MD) shortly afterwards and started working with dodio on some copywriting work. I have since taken on a more integral role in the team, taking on account management work and developing dodio’s own marketing and communications strategy. I’m now working with dodio three days a week and feel like a fully-fledged member of the team.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I’m happiest when I’m with my husband and two-year-old son. We spend a lot of time at the beach, at Beamish, or catching up with friends and family. When I get the time (which isn’t very often these days) I love going to the Tyneside Cinema, out to eat or for a run along the coast.
Best thing about working at dodio?
The team. It may be a small team, but it’s a hugely talented, dedicated and experienced one. We also get to work with a wide range of clients, so we get an insight into a range of different industries, and no two days are the same.
Plus, the craic is second to none.
